All Aboard Obrigado! 2013

Martish Marketing Co., the exclusive sub-distributor of Havaianas in South East Mindanao, jumpstarted the year with a nautical-themed Obrigado!

Obrigado-which means Thank you in Portuguese, the language used in Brazil-is MMC's annual get together to say thank you to their valued media partners. This year's event was held on February 5 at Cellar de Boca Wine Kitchen, SM Lanang Premier.

"The nautical theme stands for a new journey that will take us to the next 10, 20 or 50 more colorful and stylish years", said MMC Managing Director and event host, Margarita Nograles. From its humble beginnings in Brazil, Havaianas rose to become the world's most loved flip-flops and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012.

"This year, we will focus on strengthening all our retail stores, the focal point of every Havaianatico's brand experience. We aim to make every customer's store visit a happier and a more rewarding shopping experience," Nograles said.

She added, "We have been blessed abundantly these last 7 years. As we continue on our 8th year of business, we remember the devastation in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental. As our way of giving back, we are donating a percentage of all first quarter Havaianas sales to relief operations aimed at community rehabilitation, health, sanitation and education. We continue to count our blessings and work together for a better South East Mindanao".

Lamps, paper boats, wine bottles with red and blue stripes, ropes, shells and pebbles transformed the dark wood table into a perky nautical set up. Capiz shells tied to the table napkin with abaca rope also served as place cards. Also hanging on the walls were framed photos of the Havaianas event highlights for the past 8 years, a documentation of the journey that has been.

Each of us received a nautical designed canvass bag, Obrigado! shirt, discount coupons and limited edition Kaayo wristlets. I've been wearing mine ever since! Thank you Havaianas! :)

Janvie and Aidx

Cellar de Boca co-owner and chef Tricie Pengson-Arcenas served a mouthwatering feast: Eggplant Frito with Alioli, Skewered Grilled Tuna and Shrimp, Aglio Olio Pasta, US Angus Beef Belly Sisig and of course the all-time favorite dessert, Tricie's Strawberry Shortcake.

Kwesh, Janvie and yours truly. :)

Us! I really had a good time! Cheers to Havaianas! :)
