Fashion Doesn't Need to be Expensive

Thrifted dress | From Singapore necklace | Sm Dept. Store belt
Charles & Keith sandals | Bracelets assortments from India, Beijing and Malaysia

 Hi! :)

It's Sunday- family day for most of us. :) But for me it isn't, so I'd be playing with my dogs the entire day.
Bummer!

I miss my family.

And I'm stuck here, trying to live my life the way I want.

I wore this dress yesterday; can you believe it only cost me below 50 Pesos ($1)??? Thank you Uyang for your unlimited supply of vintage finds! haha! I really don't mind ukay-ukay (vintage clothes) at all. As long as I don't go there at the middle of the day and if I have someone to accompany me. The heat can be quite unbearable and the itchy hands of pickpockets make me paranoid.  It was when I was in third year highschool where I was introduced to ukay-ukay. My classmates brought me to Uyanguren ( Chinatown) and there started the rascalities of thrift shopping.

Whenever my friends and I have nothing fun to do, we go to thrift stores. We don't necessarily buy all the time, in fact, sometimes we couldn't find clothes to please our souls. haha. What I've learned is you have to be really patient in the art of ukay. Well, I for one am not patient at all, when I go shopping generally, I buy the clothes my eye catches in a second, sometimes I even tend to forget to try the clothes first because of my hastiness.

What surprises me is whenever I tell my friends about me wearing ukay,  they never believe me. I don't know. I guess because I have my own magic tricks. I customize some of them too. Some of them have conceived with this idea that I only wear branded clothes. Uh? Come on, that would be too boring. But I'm not saying branded clothes aren't any good. I looove them, I especially love highstreet brands like Zara, Mango,Bershka, and Topshop; H&M and Uniqlo are my go to stores whenever I'm abroad; even local brands such as Penshoppe, F&H, and Sm Dept Store! I even dream of having items from Alexander McQueen, The Row, Isabel Marant and Hermes. Haha! A girl can only dream. But to dream fantastically, I will.

All I'm saying is, ukay is just as unique as you want yourself to be. You wouldn't be caught walking down the street with girls having the same clothes as you have. Isn't that fun?

 Stiff neck
And so for this look since I was already sporting huge bold prints, I decided to go minimal with the rest of my look. The day was very laid back so I braided my hair, put on a necklace and stacks of colorful bracelets.

To give the "illusion" of a more longer silhouette, I cinched my waist with this very recognizable belt of mine. It added that extra bit of spunk this outfit needed.

This dress is so pretty. So are you considering wearing ukay now? :)
