For The Love of Football

With the world’s biggest sporting event happening in Brazil, the home country of Havaianas, Martish Marketing Company couldn’t let it pass without throwing a celebration befitting the occasion, all for the love of football.

Havaianas partnered with the Ateneo de Davao University Athletics, for its All-girls 7 A Side Futbol Fest. The Futbol Fest took place on July 12, 2014 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 in the afternoon, at the Ateneo de Davao University Matina Campus Football Field. The participants were composed of more than 200 students who are 16 years old and younger. There was also an open category participated by local football clubs.

Martish is also one with the Ateneo Athletics’ aim to empower women and exemplify girl power through this Futbol Fest. “We are looking forward to support Ateneo in its vision to make more sports programs for women in the years to come,” Marga Nograles remarked in her opening speech. The fact that this all-girls football competition is the first of its kind in the country makes the partnership very promising.

The games started at 8 a.m., after the formal opening and ceremonial kick by Marga Nograles, Cong. Karlo Nograles, and Noli Ayo, Ateneo de Davao University Athletics Sports Director.

The games stretched on until 5:30 in the afternoon, and ended with the awarding of the winners and the MVPs.

The Ateneo Grade School and Ateneo High School football teams emerged champion for the 12 years old and below, and 14 years old and below categories. The 16 years old and below category was championed by Sakya Football Club, while Punta del Sol was champion for the Open Category.

The winning teams took home individual medals and trophies from Havaianas. Aside from the medals and trophies, the MVP of each category and the open category champion also received Havaianas Gift Certificates which entitle each of them to a pair of Havaianas flip-flops.

During the Futbol Fest, the Havaianas Pop-up Shop showcased the Havaianas Teams Collection. Martish also prepared a fun and exciting ‘Free Kick’ Activity for the participants. In this side activity, participants and guests had a chance to try kicking and shooting a soccer ball. Successful attempts merited the participant a free Havaianas Gift.

For most of the countries around the world, football is regarded as a religion since the relationship between fan and football transcends more than sports with their love for football. And the love for this game makes and ignites a unique passion that drives fans from a simple joy to an extravagant celebration. A passion that started with a spherical leather ball and has been passed on from generation to generation, fan to fan, and foot to foot.

VARSITEE

The Varsity Chic is one of my favorite fashion trends, taking it's inspiration from sporty jock popularized by high schoolers and College kids. One major don't with this trend is to go all out, you just need to have one key piece that you want to eear and match it with the clothes you got in your wardrobe. You can pair your varsity shirts with a bomber jacket over or a lettered shirt paired with skinny jeans and rubber shoes or sneakers.

Here's my varsity shirt paired with white jeans and plaid cover-up tied around my waist, I wore this during the press conference for Tomato Time Davao

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO

I know I've been lost for a long while but this time I'll try to post as much as I could so I can update everyone (to those who care lol) on what's happening on my life. :) Last February, I started designing shirts for my self since I'm having a hard time looking for a shirt that would perfectly fit me and will suit my design preference, so why not make my own design and have it custom made. My first design was of course all about florals. My addiction to florals is beyond measure. We see men wearing floral shirts, bags, shorts, socks etc. The floral trend is something fresh to look at, something vibrant and stylish at the same time.
Showing you the mood board that I made, got the inspiration from guys with tattoos on their chest. Men sporting florals but still looks manly is what I wanted to achieve with my designs.
Before, when people hear the word "Floral" they would think of the kind of shirts worn at Hawaiian beach, a kind of loud floral prints that don't look stylish at all. I want mine to look subtle, something you can wear everyday without looking tacky.
Here's my take on the floral trend, subtle touch of embroidered floral details. Not too loud, something you can wear on a casual day without looking boring.

Up next is my varsity shirt, stay tuned!
